CUET 2023 Examinations to be Held on May 21st: How to Apply and Prepare

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the Common University Entrance Test CUET 2023 Exam date. The exam will be held from May 21 to May 30, 2023. The CUET is a national-level entrance exam conducted for admission to various undergraduate, Integrated, Postgraduate, Diploma, and Certification programs offered by different universities across India.

CUET Exam Eligibility Criteria 2023

Age Limit: Candidates should not be more than 25 years of age as on July 1, 2023. However, there is a relaxation of five years for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories

Academic Qualification: Candidates must have passed or be appearing for the Class 12th or equivalent examination in the year 2023 or earlier.

Minimum Marks: Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in their Class 12th or equivalent examination. For candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories, the minimum aggregate marks are 55%.

Subjects: Candidates must have studied Mathematics and Physics as compulsory subjects in their Class 12th or equivalent examination. Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subjects as optional subjects are also acceptable.

Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens.

Candidates who meet the above eligibility criteria can apply for the CUET exam 2023. It’s important to note that meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee admission, and candidates must also perform well in the entrance exam and the subsequent rounds of the admission process to secure admission.

Exam Pattern:

The CUET exam pattern consists of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) to be attempted in 2 hours and 30 minutes. The question paper is divided into four sections: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and General Aptitude. Each section carries 25% weightage in the exam.

CUET Exam Syllabus:

The CUET syllabus consists of three sections.

In Section I, candidates will be tested on their language skills through reading comprehension. This section will have different types of passages, including factual, literary, and narrative passages, which will test their literary aptitude and vocabulary. 

In Section II, candidates should refer to the NCERT books to prepare for the exam. This section includes topics such as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and General Aptitude. Candidates should have a thorough understanding of the concepts taught till Grade 12. 

Section III: This section will test the candidates’ general knowledge, current affairs, general mental ability, numerical ability, quantitative reasoning (simple application of basic mathematical concepts), and logical and analytical reasoning.

Candidates should note that the syllabus is vast, and they need to have a strong foundation in their 12th class curriculum. They should refer to standard reference books, study materials, and previous years’ question papers to prepare for the exam effectively. A thorough understanding of the concepts and regular practice will help candidates score well in the exam.

Understanding the Syllabus: Candidates must start by understanding the exam syllabus and its weightage in the exam. They should focus more on important topics that carry more weightage.

Planning and Time Management: Candidates must prepare a well-planned study schedule to manage their time effectively. They should allocate time to each section and subject as per their difficulty level.

Practice Mock Tests: Candidates should attempt mock tests regularly to analyze their performance and identify their weak areas. This will also help them to manage their time better during the actual exam.

Refer to Standard Books: Candidates should refer to standard reference books and study materials for a better understanding of concepts.

Revision: Regular revision of topics is important to keep them fresh in memory. Candidates should revise their notes and important formulas regularly.
