Jamia Millia Islamia (lit. “National Islamic University”) is an Indian central university in New Delhi. Founded in 1920 in Aligarh, United Provinces (present-day Uttar Pradesh, India) during the British Raj, it relocated to its current location in Okhla in 1935. The University Grants Commission granted it deemed status in 1962. It was designated as a core university on December 26, 1988.
